If you ever visit Trondheim you should try one of the great hiking trails in Bymarka. On the first Saturday of August I hiked up to the Goat Mountain (in Norwegian: Geitfjellet).
It’s not the highest point in Bymarka, but it probably has the best view of Trondheim and the fjord. And on your way down from the mountain you can go by Våttåkammen, which is another great viewpoint.
The name of the mountain derives from its shape, so there’s no need to worry about meeting a stubborn goat or two. I did however meet some sheep on my way up to the woods.
